Dendral

Dendralは、1960年代の人工知能プロジェクトである。未知の有機化合物を質量分析法で分析し、有機化学の知識を使って特定する^[1]。スタンフォード大学で、エドワード・ファイゲンバウム、Bruce Buchanan、ジョシュア・レーダーバーグ、Carl Djerassi が開発した^[2]。プロジェクトは1965年に開始された^[3]。

ソフトウェアとしてのDendralは、化学者が行うような判断と問題解決の過程を自動化したものであるため、世界初のエキスパートシステムと言われている^[1]。2つのプログラム Heuristic Dendral と Meta-Dendral から構成されている^[3]。LISPで書かれている^[1]。

Dendral から派生したシステムとして、Mycin、MOLGEN、MACSYMA、PROSPECTOR、XCON、STEAMER などがある。

Dendral という名称は "Dendritic Algorithm"（樹枝状アルゴリズム）に由来するかばん語である^[3]。
