Fuzor kućne izvedbe.[1]

Fuzor je uređaj koji koristi električno polje za zagrijavanje iona na stanja adekvatna za nuklearnu fuziju. Mašina ima napon između dva metalna kaveza unutar vakuuma. Pozitivni ioni padaju niz ovaj pad napona, ubrzavajući se. Ako se sudare u centru, onda mogu fuzirati. Ovo je tip uređaja za inercijalno elektrostatsko stješnjavanje.

Farnsworth–Hirschov fuzor je najčešći tip fuzora.[2] Ovaj dizajn je nastao radom Philo T. Farnswortha 1964. godine i Robert L. Hirscha 1967. godine.[3][4] Prethodnu varijantu fuzora izglasali su William Elmore, James L. Tuck i Ken Watson na Los Alamos National Laboratory[5] iako oni nisu nikad napravili uređaj.

Fuzore su pravile razne institucije, između kojih Univerzitet Wisconsin–Madison,[6] Massachusetts Institute of Technology[7] te vladini subjekti, poput Atomic Energy Organization of Iran i Turkish Atomic Energy Authority.[8][9] Fuzori su također bili razvijani komercijalno, kao izvori neutrona od strane DaimlerChrysler Aerospace[10] te kao metoda za generisanje medicinskih izotopa.[11][12][13] Fuzori su također postali veoma popularni za hobiste i amatere. Rastući broj amatera je izveo nuklearnu fuziju koristeći jednostavnu fuzor-mašinu.[14][15][16][17][18][19]
