Die god Kama, wie se pyle begeerte aanwakker.

Kama (Sanskrit, Pali, Devanagari: काम) beteken "begeerte, wens, hunkering" in die geskrifte van Hindoeïsme, Boeddhisme en Djainisme.[1][2][3] Kama beteken dikwels in Hindoe-, Boeddhistiese[3][4] en Indiese letterkunde[5] sensuele plesier, seksuele begeerte en ’n hunkering, maar die begrip verwys in ’n breër sin na enige begeerte, wens, passie en verlange daarna om die lewe te geniet, of na liefde of deernis.

Liefde kan met of sonder seksuele konnotasies wees.[3][6]
