Malawimonadidae je eukariotska porodica .[ 1] [ 2] [ 3]
To je skupina malih bičastih protozoa , malih životinjaa van slatke vode ili tla, površno sličnih rodu Carpediemonas , iako nisu u uskoj vezi. Imaju tipsko mitohondrijsko disanje i diskoidne grebene, dva kinetosoma , zadnji bič s ventralnom lopaticom (Malawimonas ) ili na dvije suprotne strane (Gefionella ).[ 4]
Uključeni su u skupinu Excavata , iako njihovi odnosi sa ostatkom grupe i kladusa nisu jasni.[ 5] Nedavno je sugerirana veza s rodom Collodictyon [ 6] iako postoji bliskost sa Metamonada [ 7] u redefiniranoj grupi koja se zove Loukozoa .
