Octoechos (Graece ὁ Ὀκτώηχος[1] < ὀκτώ 'octo' + ἦχος 'sonus, modus' echos appellatus; Slavonice Осмогласие < о́смь 'octo' + гласъ, Glagolitice ⰳⰾⰰⱄⱏ 'vox', 'sonus') est ratio modorum octo quae ad cantum religiosum in ecclesiis Byzantinis, Syriacis, Armenianis, Georgianis, Latinis, Slavicisque compositam ex Medio Aevo adhibetur. Qui formis mutatis fundamenta traditionis cantuum monodicorum(en) in Ritu Byzantino iam habetur.
