Philomela (/ˌfɪləˈmlə/) or Philomel (/ˈfɪləˌmɛl/; Ancient Greek: Φιλομήλη, Philomēlē; Φιλομήλα Philomḗla) is a minor figure in Greek mythology who is frequently invoked as a direct and figurative symbol in literary and artistic works in the Western canon.
