Phytophthora (von griechisch ϕυτόν phytón, „Pflanze“ und ϕϑορά phthorá, „Vernichtung, Zerstörung“; „die Pflanzenvernichtende“) ist eine Gattung pflanzenschädigender Protisten aus der Familie der Peronosporaceae. Heinrich Anton de Bary beschrieb sie 1875 erstmals.
