Trithuria je jedini rod u porodici Hydatellaceae, cvjetnica u redu Nymphaeales, razred Magnoliopsida, divizija Tracheophyta.[1] Porodica je imenovana po rodu Hydatella Diels, što je sinonim za Trithuria; opisana je 1976.[2].
Rod-porodica ima desetak vrsta malehnih vodenih biljaka, porijeklom iz Australije, sa Tasmanije i Novog Zelanda i iz Indije.
