The Descendants of John VI of Portugal, of the House of Braganza, can still be traced in both reigning and non-reigning royal families of Europe and Brazil. Through his second son, Miguel I of Portugal, some of his descendants were recent rulers in Belgium, Luxembourg, and Liechtenstein, and some were claimants to the thrones of Portugal, Austria, and the former Duchy of Parma. These rulers remain uncertain due to constitutional amendments which favoured a younger sibling. These constitutional changes created a considerable amount of unrest following the abdication of the King, who moved to Brazil. [1]
