Draft:Chris Burbank

Chris Burbank is a retired American police chief of the Salt Lake City Police Department (SLCPD)[1][2][3][4]. as well as a consultant and public speaker.[5][6] He has worked on issues such as social justice,[7][8][9] immigration reform,[1][2][5][10][11] and gun violence prevention.[12][13] Burbank has testified before Congress several times to share his perspective on immigration, contradicting the belief that immigrants contributed to increased crime in cities and neighborhoods.[1][10][14] Burbank was one of six police chiefs nationwide to meet with President Barack Obama to discuss the Administration’s strategies regarding gun violence in America.[13]

Burbank is an experienced media commentator,[15][16][17] frequently discussing issues such as police brutality,[18][19][20] civil rights,[14][21] and the use of force.[22][23][24][25] He is often consulted by local[26][27][28] and national[12][29][30] media for perspectives on the relationship between law enforcement and the communities they serve,[31][32][33][34] such as during high-profile cases like the killing of Gabby Petito.[35]

In 2011, Burbank was named as "Utahn of the Year."[1][36] In 2014, he was selected as one of the "Enlightened 50,"[37] a recognition for those considered the most influential people in Utah.[10] He also served as the First Vice President of the Major Cities Chief Association, an assembly of the 75 largest policing agencies in the U.S. and Canada.[5][10]

Currently, Burbank serves as a Law Enforcement Strategy Advisor to the Center for Policing Equity (CPE).[5][18]
