The Municipal Corporation of Gurugram is the civic body governing the Indian city of Gurgaon. The Municipal Corporation mechanism in India was introduced during British Rule with the formation of the Municipal Corporation in Madras (Chennai) in 1688, later followed by municipal corporations in Bombay (Mumbai) and Calcutta (Kolkata) by 1762.[4] Gurgaon Municipal Corporation is headed by the Mayor of the city and governed by the Commissioner.
