Kentucky State Reformatory (KSR) is a medium-security prison for adult males. The prison is located in unincorporated Oldham County, Kentucky,[1] near La Grange,[2] and about 30 miles (48 km) northeast of Louisville.[3] It opened in 1940[4] to replace the Kentucky State Penitentiary in Frankfort (later known as Kentucky State Reformatory) after a flood damaged the original property. As of 2024, the capacity of KSR is 1,051 inmates.
