Lorestan province (Persian: استان لرستان)[a] is one of the 31 provinces of Iran. Its capital is the city of Khorramabad.[6]

Lorestan is in the western part of the country in the Zagros Mountains and covers an area of 28,392 km2. In 2014 it was placed in Region 4.[7]

Lorestan is located close to the border with Iraq. Situated in a scenic valley surrounded by mountains, Lorestan lies approximately 100 kilometers (about 62 miles) east of the Iraqi border.[8][9][10]
