General Mohammed Rafie (Pashtu: محمد رفیع) was an Afghan communist minister from People's Democratic Party of Afghanistan.[1]
Rafie was born about 1946 in Paghman area.[1] He is a Pashtun. He was an army officer in tank corps.[1] He was appointed as minister of public works following the Saur Revolution.[1] In August 1978 he was ousted from his public offices by Khalqi government.[1]
Rafie was a member of the Politburo, Deputy Prime Minister, and Defense Minister. He served as Minister of Defense of the Democratic Republic of Afghanistan from 1979 to 1984 and 1986 to 1988.[2]
Rafie was one of the vice presidents of Mohammed Najibullah after the 1988 elections.[3]
