Rape in Taiwan

Rape in Taiwan is sexual assault involving sexual penetration carried out against a person without their consent in the nation. Victims and perpetrators include Taiwan citizens, residents, and foreign nationals from a wide range of backgrounds and every social class.[1][2][3]

Victims, some who are lured into sex trafficking in Taiwan, are raped in hotels and other locations throughout the country.[4][5][6][7][8] There have been women deceived by perpetrators in fake modeling photoshoots.[9][10] Some are victims of drugging,[11][12] gang rape, torture, murder,[13] and sexual slavery. Victims suffer from physical and psychological trauma, ostracization, and, at times, suicide.[14] Rapes and attempted rapes have been committed by students,[15] teachers,[16] artists,[17] spa and massage workers, [18] medical staff, Taiwan military personnel,[19][20] and others.
