Is there a relation between Alb-Donau and Albania by any chance? The coat of arms is especially interesting. Dori | Talk 01:48, Feb 17, 2004 (UTC)
I'd say it's an interesting coincidence. The worb Alb seems to have the same root, the proto-indogermanic word for mountain - both Albania as well as Alb-Donau have lots of hills. Eagles are common heraldic animals. The one of Alb-Donau derives from the eagle as the symbol of the city Ulm, which further derives from the imperial eagle of the Holy Roman Empire as Ulm was a free imperial city. So the question remains if that symbol anyhow got into the Albanian flag - Gjergj Kastriot Skanderbeg does not suggest any connection however. andy 18:38, 22 Sep 2004 (UTC)
Yeah, I thought that might be the case. The flag of Albania was first used by Skanderbeg, I thought that info was in there, I'll check that and add it if it's not there. Thanks for the reply. Dori | Talk 23:13, Oct 5, 2004 (UTC)
