I completely agree with you about "frequent edits". I know there are some people around who do them for the wrong reason (for example, someone I was constantly in dispute with over the factual accuracy of a particular article, and she used to do loads of little edits to it, in the hope that I would only look at her last change and not notice the previous ones) but I don't see that they are in themselves a bad thing.
