The ushkuyniks (Russian: ушкуйники, romanizedushkuyniki, sg. ушкуйник, ushkuynik), also spelled ushkuiniks, were medieval Novgorodian pirates who operated in the north of European Russia as well as along the Volga River until the 15th century.[1]
