Michael James Benton FRS FRSE^[3][4] (lahir 8 April 1956)^[1] adalah seorang palaentolog Inggris, dan profesor paleontologi vertebrata dalam Jurusan Ilmu Bumi di Universitas Bristol.^[5][6][7] Karya terbitannya kebanyakan terkonsentrasi pada evolusi para reptil Trias selain ia juga meneliti soal peristiwa kepunahan dan perubahan faunal dalam catatan fosil.^[2][8][9]
