Reliquiae Qumran (pars)

Qumran (Arabice خربة قمران = Ḫirbat Qumrān, "parietinae canae"), fuit vicus antiquus, cuius reliquiae prope litus boreo-occidentale Maris Mortui sitae sunt. Qumran anno 68 bello Iudaico (66-70) a Legione X Fretensi deleta est.

Postquam in undecim cavis prope vicum sitis manuscripta Iudaica, quae ab antiquitate (250 a. C.n. usque ad 40 p.C.n.) repetunt (sic dicta "Manuscripta Maris Mortui"), reperta sunt (1947-1956), vici reliquiae annis 1951-1958 totae erutae sunt. Ab annis 1980 Qumran etiam frequens periegeticis locus factus est.[1]
