McNeill in praefatione editionis 2003 labores Alfredi Crosby ab editoribus multis spretos, a pluribus historicis sine laude receptos esse confitetur.[3] Apud recentiores textum classicum de latissimo rerum ab hominibus gestarum effectu reputatur. His annis, talium operum gratia, crescebant studia de historia circumiectús aevi Holocaeni seu Anthropocaeni.
