Americhelydia ialah klad dari spesies penyu dan kura-kura yang terdiri daripada penyu, snapping turtle, kura-kura sungai Amerika tengah dan Kinosternidae. Hal ini disokong oleh beberapa kajian molekular.[4][5][6] Sebelum ini, beberapa siri kajian pembangunan morfologikal meletakkan penyu sebagai Kriptodira, dan kinosternida mempunyai pertalian dengan trionychia di bawah klad Trionychoidea.[7][8]
