The Analyst (com o subtítulo A Discourse Addressed to an Infidel Mathematician: Wherein It Is Examined Whether the Object, Principles, and Inferences of the Modern Analysis Are More Distinctly Conceived, or More Evidently Deduced, Than Religious Mysteries and Points of Faith) de Gorge Berkeley. Foi publicado pela primeira vez em 1734, primeiro por J. Tonson (Londres), depois por S. Fuller (Dublin). Acredita-se que o "matemático infiel" tenha sido Edmond Halley, embora outros tenham especulado que Sir Isaac Newton era o pretendido.^[1]
