Opposition backbenches in the British House of Commons chamber

In Westminster parliamentary systems, a backbencher is a member of parliament (MP) or a legislator who holds no governmental office and is not a frontbench spokesman in the Opposition. A backbencher is simply a member of parliament with no cabinet duties.[1]
