Fredric Ruff Jameson (April 14, 1934 – September 22, 2024) was an American literary critic, philosopher and Marxist political theorist. He was best known for his analysis of contemporary cultural trends. Jameson's best-known books include Postmodernism, or, The Cultural Logic of Late Capitalism (1991)[1] and The Political Unconscious (1981).
Jameson was born in Cleveland, Ohio. He studied at Haverford College and Yale University. Jameson was a professor at Duke University.[2]
Jameson died at his home in Killingworth, Connecticut on September 22, 2024, at the age of 90.[3][4]
