The iTunes Store is a digital media store operated by Apple Inc. It opened on April 28, 2003, as a result of Steve Jobs push to open a digital marketplace for music.

The iTunes Store is available on most Apple devices, including the Mac (inside the Music app), the iPhone, the iPad, the iPod touch, and the Apple TV, as well as on Windows (inside iTunes). As of January 2009, the number of songs sold worldwide has surpassed 6 billion. The iTunes Store is also the most popular online movie store (as of April 11, 2007, the store had sold approximately 2 million movies). In the U.S the iTunes Store is the third largest music retailer overall. The files you order are sent along with usage guidelines established by FairPlay, Apple's version of digital rights management.

New songs are added to the iTunes catalog every day, while the iTunes Store is updated every Tuesday. The store currently has over 13,000,000 songs (available in all national versions of the iTunes Store).
