Narges Mohammadi (Persian: نرگس محمدی; born 21 April 1972) is an Iranian human rights activist and scientist. She is the Vice-President of the Defenders of Human Rights Center. In 2016, she was sentenced to prison in Tehran for her activism for human rights and against the death penalty in the country. She was released in 2020, however was sent back in 2021. In 2023, she was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize.
