A vulnerable species is a species of animals or plants which are threatened with extinction unless something changes. Something has to be done to remove the things that are harmful to their survival, and their rate of reproduction needs to increase.
A vulnerable species is one which has been categorised by the International Union for Conservation of Nature. There are now 4728 animals and 4914 plants listed as vulnerable on the IUCN Red List.[1]
