Fredsdomare finns i ett antal länder. De är i allmänhet tjänstemän utan juridisk utbildning med en begränsad makt inom ett lokalt område. Ursprungligen kan man härleda begreppet till England där Justice of the Peace Act antogs 1361.[1]
