Manolis Plionis (Greek: Μανώλης Πλειώνης, born 13 July 1960) is a Greek astrophysicist, known for his scientific contributions to Observational Cosmology and Extragalactic astrophysics. He is a Professor at the Department of Physics of the Aristotelian University of Thessaloniki (AUTH) since 2012. In 2017 he was elected as the Director and President of the Board of Directors of the National Observatory of Athens (NOA), the first research institute established in the modern Greek state[1]. He is also an adjunct Professor at the European University of Cyprus, affiliated to the CERIDES center of excellence and a former Visiting Professor for more than 13 years at the Institute INAOE in Mexico. In recent years, he has been one of the leading members of the national campaign addressing the challenges of Climate Change in Greece. He speaks Greek, English, Italian and Spanish. [2]
