SM Kamrul Hassan is a lieutenant general of the Bangladesh Army who in 2024 was appointed the 17th principal staff officer (PSO) of the Armed Forces Division.[1]

Before being appointed PSO he was a senior directing staff (Army-1) at National Defence College, the commandant of Bangladesh Military Academy (BMA), and commanded the 66th Infantry Division and Rangpur area[2] as General-Officer-Commanding (GOC).[3]

Previously, he also served as the Chief Instructor at Defense Services Command and Staff College.[4] and Commanded the 6th Infantry Brigade.[2]

Hassan has a PhD in government and politics on "Internet Usage in Political Communication" from Jahangirnagar University.[3][5]

In January 2025, he led a six-member delegation from Bangladesh Armed Forces to Pakistan. As part of the visit, he paid courtesy calls to the chiefs of Army, Naval and Air Staff of Pakistan Armed Forces.[6]
