User talk:TUF-KAT/Gospel to fair use

What do you think of the first sentence of Gospel music claiming that gospel derives from blues and jazz? I'd be inclined to say the genres developed fairly independently, with modern gospel making use of both blues and jazz. I've heard a cappella gospel songs from the early 20th century which make use of nothing but simple melodies, with others from the same era that have intricate interweaving melodies reminiscent of parts of classical music. Hm, well, I'm not sure if I should change it, or how to say what I'd change it to. In fact, if I were to do it at all, I'd be inclined to rip off what you wrote.  ;-) Koyaanis Qatsi

There should be some mention eventually of gospel music's ancestor for, spirituals. BTW, Kid Ory among others who knew him said that Buddy Bolden got a good bit of his inspiration for forming the style later to be known as jazz "primitive Baptist" black church music. Anyhow, kudos on your work on tackeling such a wide range of musics! -- Infrogmation 06:30 16 Jun 2003 (UTC)

You deleted Jeff Young without it having been on Votes for Deletion for a week. -- Zoe

I did. It's because I am part of a cabal intent on controlling Wikipedia by keeping silly nobodies out of it. I bet you wish you were part of my cabal, then you could do the same... (sorry, no gurlz allowed) Tuf-Kat

Can gay guyz join? I've deleted something too that wasn't on for a week. But it was all Zoe's fault, so it was. :-P She wrote something that had two meanings, and I took the wrong one . . . *sob* so I guess that nasty GrahamN will start following me around *sob* Can we kick him in the nuts, Cabal-Master? Can we? Please. Please. Please!!! Or send messages in his name to DW/Joe Canuck, so then he can have Joe being really really really nasty to him . . . please . . . Cabal-Master . . . and can we make Zoe an honorary guy, call her Zoel? Pulease? *grin* FearÉIREANN 06:27 17 Jun 2003 (UTC)

But I don't drink guinness, hate it in fact. I drink an ale called Smithwicks -pronounced Smid-dicks (you haven't lived until you have heard French, Belgians or Italians trying to say that word in a bar, asking for smuid-wikks with a barman pretending not to hear so they have to keep trying to pronounce it! over and over and over again) Oh and I am blond - I dyed my hair last week again. I can blend in the growing amount of grey by being blond. Black/brown tends to mean just how grey I am getting can be seen. (I personally blame wiki for my greyness!) I've noticed you've done quite a lot of work on the various "music in .." pages and wondered if you would like to take on the main music page, which is currently a bit stubby. --Eloquence 01:13 20 Jun 2003 (UTC)

Could you add something on the copyright status of the image on No Dice (Image:BadfingerNoDice.jpg). Fair use? GFDL? Who created it, anyway? (etc - blah blah blah).
Have a nice holiday from Wikipedia :) Martin 13:26 20 Jun 2003 (UTC)

thanks :) Martin

do you know anything about Kruder & Dorfmeister? I just posted a rudimentary article about them, but the one article I have of theirs (K&D Sessions, which I don't mind telling you has been on constant rotation since I bought it 3 months ago) doesn't say anything about them inside. I've just found a few sites discussing them, briefly--e.g. VH1 and Rolling Stone, and a page with a fairly biased writeup of them that didn't tell me much I didn't already know (that the person likes their music, and that they've remixed some fairly well-known songs). Anyway, maybe this isn't your kind of music. Just wondering. Koyaanis Qatsi 05:16 28 Jun 2003 (UTC)

You have a friend who's not a wikipediholic!? Is that for lack of trying?  ;-) Koyaanis Qatsi 05:44 28 Jun 2003 (UTC)
So I guess it follows that you wouldn't know immediately how to sort out the general mess of contradictions at electronic music and various subgenres? Because I wouldn't either, and I'm having trouble finding sources I consider authoritative. Certainly I don't consider allmusic.com authoritative. ^_^ Koyaanis Qatsi 06:27 28 Jun 2003 (UTC)

Hello, TUF-KAT. I have read the reference you left me, but it is incorrect. No book on Greco-Roman mythology speaks about Lucifer or Aradia (Herodias), but books on witchcraft do. Herodias, deriving from the Jewish princess, who was against John the Baptist because he rejected her love, was turned into a goddess in early times of Christianity, and possibly in Tuscany, because it was cited as happening in Italy. Lucifer was never part of the Greco-Roman pantheon, and less a brother and consort of Diana. That tradition is posterior. There were warnings concerning this worship in Christian acts from the 10th century. I had left a message on the Village pump. If I acted in a disgusting way to your mind, I offer you my apologies, and it can be changed again, but I thought that the changes I made could avoid confussion among users. I insist in the fact that Herodias (Aradia), as a daughter of Diana and Lucifer, has nothing to do with Greco-Roman myths, and Diana, in those religions, was considered a virgin goddess; not in Wiccan tradition. Any suggestion or whatever, please let me know. Thanks. The Warlock 06:43 28 Jun 2003 (UTC)

Sorry, I forgot to add that the reference you left me is incorrect only in part, for it says Italy (Tuscany), and not Roman mythology; and that Wicca is a syncretic religion that took beliefs from others making some changes as all syncretic beliefs, and Aradia is revered mainly in Dianic Wiccan tradition; Wiccans have taken some traditions and practices from what was known as "witchcraft" and "heresy" (I am not a Christian and I am respectful of all beliefs). I don't think the change I made was in expense of another tradition that is not extrinsically mentioned by your reference, just, precisely, a differentiation between both beliefs. The Warlock 07:28 28 Jun 2003 (UTC)

A page explaining the historic origin of the name Aradia (Herodias), Herodias and an Early Dianic Cult has been created and linked to Aradia's page and to Sabbath (witchcraft), being that Herodias was related to a Dianic cult associated to witchcraft by the Catholic church. I think this is going to make clearer the subject. The Warlock 10:38 29 Jun 2003 (UTC)

Where do you get the chart positions for the album pages? -- Jim Regan 18:18 9 Jul 2003 (UTC)

Thanks - Camembert answered my question for me, but thanks anyway. What was the last consensus on fair use images? It's been brought up again in a few different places, including for album covers (probably cause I uploaded about 20 in one day :) -- Jim Regan 19:40 26 Jul 2003 (UTC)

Good to see you back, even if it is only for a few hours! Danny

Oh! I recognise that name. Welcome back. -- Oliver P. 04:13, 21 Aug 2003 (UTC)

Holy shit - its Tokerboy! I was just admiring your work on the NWA pages (et al) Coincidence? -戴&#30505sv 04:17, Aug 21, 2003 (UTC)

TUF-KAT back? Great! Welcome home! Kosebamse 18:11, 22 Aug 2003 (UTC)
