Vladimir Plahotniuc (born 1 January 1966), commonly referred to as Vlad Plahotniuc, is a Moldovan politician and oligarch and the vice president of the parliament of Moldova in 2010-2013. [4] He was the chairman of the Democratic Party of Moldova (24 December 2016 – 24 June 2019) and previously was a member of the Parliament of Moldova for three terms (December 2010 – October 2013, December 2014 – July 2015, February 2019 – July 2019), and served as First Vice President of the Parliament of Moldova (December 2010 – February 2013). Until leaving the territory of the Republic of Moldova in 2019,[5][6] he was considered to be the powerhouse of Moldovan politics in matters of influence,[7] controlling Moldova's government and parliamentary majority.[8][9][10] Since fleeing Moldova in June 2019, Plahotniuc has resided in Turkey.[11]
