Kendra Saunders is a superheroine appearing in American comic books published by DC Comics. She was created by writers James Robinson and David S. Goyer and artist Scott Benefiel, and first appeared in JSA: Secret Files and Origins #1 (August 1999). She is the third and current version of Hawkgirl. Saunders is depicted as a Hispanic-American[1][2] being the latest in a reincarnation cycle.[3] Saunders differs from her past incarnation with a reluctance in accepting herself as being a reincarnation of a singular being, distancing herself from reoccurring aspects of her past lives.[4] As the heroine Hawkgirl, she is an immortal warrior who has served as a notable member of both the Justice League and Justice Society of America.
Saunders has appeared in several media adaptations. Most notably, she appeared in DC Super Hero Girls voiced by Nika Futterman. In live action, she was portrayed by Ciara Renée portrayed the character in The CW's Arrowverse television series The Flash in the first-season finale, appeared in the Arrowverse crossover Heroes Join Forces, and starred in the first season of Legends of Tomorrow. Isabela Merced will portray the character in the DC Universe starting with the upcoming film, Superman.
