Prunella Margaret Rumney West Scales[1][2] (née Illingworth; born 22 June 1932) is an English retired actor.[3] She portrayed Sybil Fawlty, the bossy wife of Basil Fawlty (John Cleese), in the BBC comedy Fawlty Towers, Queen Elizabeth II in A Question of Attribution (Screen One, BBC 1991) by Alan Bennett (for which she was nominated for a British Academy Television Award)[4] and appeared in the documentary series Great Canal Journeys (2014–2021), travelling on narrowboats with her husband and fellow actor Timothy West.
