Ethel Lote
- ... that World War II nurse Ethel Lote taught yoga classes until she was 95?
- ALT1: ... that World War II nurse Ethel Lote taught yoga classes until she was in her 90s? Source: "And she taught yoga well into her 90s" [2]
- Reviewed:
- Comment: First hook is supported by the video in source, but I am unsure if videos can be used as evidence in a DYK nomination so I've added an alt hook just in case.

This article has potential, but there are solveable problems:
- Article is new and long enough
- The article relies on sources that are mostly interviews, such as the Dreaper BBC source, which is used at least four times. The blurb relies on Lote's son and herself mentioning this fact when interviewed. This falls as WP:PRIMARY, and I can pass this despite of this, but others may not. The Telegraph is behind a registerwall but can be used AGF.
- Article is presentable
- Some sources contradict each other. The 2008 Express and Star reference states she retired at 88 years old. The video cited in the hook states she quit at 95, while the 2020 Express and Star reference states 90s. I'd assume the newer Express and Star is more updated, but maybe this should be in the prose that she retired in 2008, but had continued exercising herself until she was 95? I assume that what was meant?
- Hook is interesting and short enough.
- Image is licensed appropriately; impossible to find a free source of Lote as she is now dead.
- QPQ is waived as creator only has 2 DYKs.

- @Narutolovehinata5: I'm planning on working on this today. Spiderpig662 (talk) 12:46, 10 January 2025 (UTC)
- @Howard the Duck: @Narutolovehinata5: I've rephrased it per the suggestion to "Lote officially retired from teaching classes when she was 88, but continued practicing yoga and tai chi until she was 95, when she fractured her femur and could no longer get her foot over the back of her neck." Here are two alt hooks that could be used:
- ALT3: ... that World War II nurse Ethel Lote taught yoga classes until she was 88? Source: "After more than 40 years teaching yoga and tai chi Ethel Lote is retiring – at the grand age of 88." [3]
- ALT4: ... that World War II nurse Ethel Lote practiced yoga and tai chi until she was 95? Source: [4]
Is there anything else in the article that needs to be addressed? Spiderpig662 (talk) 16:18, 10 January 2025 (UTC)
- I'm satisfied with the edits done to the article, and my personal preference is ALT4. Howard the Duck (talk) 20:10, 12 January 2025 (UTC)
