Editing here was a hobby I started because, in some small way, it could help people. Then it was a hobby that I could do on days when I couldn't get out of bed. (Like today.) Now it mostly gives me the melancholy realization that we build upon existing institutions that are presently decaying. It's not just that every little task we have to do a dozen times a day gets harder and harder, like trying to wring anything useful out of a web search. Academic literature? Drowning in sewage and dying of rent-seeking besides. Journalism? Ready and eager to bend the knee to fascists.
