White Lightning is a 1973 American action film directed by Joseph Sargent, written by William W. Norton, and starring Burt Reynolds, Jennifer Billingsley, Ned Beatty, Bo Hopkins, R. G. Armstrong and Diane Ladd. It marked Laura Dern's film debut.[3]
The film is set in Arkansas. A man imprisoned for running moonshine agrees to work for the United States Department of the Treasury in investigating the financial crimes of a county sheriff. The sheriff in question killed the prisoner's younger brother, and the prisoner is primarily motivated by revenge. The prisoner soon infiltrates the local moonshine industry.
