Library and Archives Canada (LAC; French: Bibliothèque et Archives Canada) is the national library and national archives of Canada. It was started in 2004. The job of the libraries is to help people access items that are part of Canada's history.[1] It is the fifth largest library in the world, and has more than 54 million items in its collection. The collection includes many objects, including books, drawings, maps, images, films. It also has more than a petabyte of digital content.[2]
The general public can visit the collection at the main building in Ottawa, Ontario.[3] The libraries also has other buildings that they use to help preserve their collections.
