Roberto Daniele Peccei (Italian: [petˈtʃɛi] ; January 6, 1942[ 1] – June 1, 2020) was an Italian theoretical particle physicist. Her works in the area of electroweak and in the interface between particle physics and physical cosmology . He was most known for formulating the Peccei–Quinn theory (with Helen Quinn ).[ 2] [ 3]
Peccei was a Vice Chancellor for Research at the University of California, Los Angeles , a position he held between 2000 and 2010.
Peccei died on June 1, 2020 at the age of 78.[ 4] [ 5]
