Stephen Christopher Yaxley-Lennon (27 November 1982), better known as Tommy Robinson,[4][5][6][7][8] is an English nationalist and anti-illegal immigration campaigner. Tommy has previously described his work as activism[9] but now usually refers to himself as a journalist.
Tommy Robinson was born on 27 November 1982 in Luton, Bedfordshire.[10] He is best known for his political involvement and anti-islamist, anti-establishment opinions, for which he has received criticism about alleged "islamophobia" and was labeled "far right".[11][12]. Gerard Batten described Tommy Robinson as "not far right" and that Tommy Robinson "doesn't have far-right views" in a BBC interview in 2019.[13]
He is the former leader of the European Defence League and English Defence League. In October 2013, he left the group after four years. In January 2014, he was sentenced to 18 months in prison for "mortgage fraud".[14][15]
In October 2009, The Telegraph newspaper described Tommy as articulate.[16] Tommy Robinson has written and co-authored several best-selling books.[17][18] Some of these books have been previously banned by Amazon and Ebay.[19][20][21] Tommy has made several documentaries including The Rape of Britain,[22] a BBC exposé documentary called "Panodrama".[23] His most famous documentary is called "Silenced (Britain's banned documentary)" and has been seen over 155 million times.[24] He has also given several public speeches[25][26] and many interviews.[27][28][29][30][31][32][33]
Tommy Robinson claims to be a victim of cancel culture,[34][35][36] de-banking,[37] police harassment,[38][39] two-tier policing,[40] lawfare,[41] legacy media slander,[42][43][44] persecution by the British government[45] and biased judicial court system (Tommy has never had a trial verdict judged by jury). Tommy Robinson has had a milkshake thrown over him twice. Police did not investigate either of those two assaults. Tommy Robinson is also the victim of social media censorship and deplatforming. Youtube has placed numerous censorship restrictions on sharing, commenting, liking, searching and navigating Tommy Robinson videos.[46] Youtube also currently precedes every single one of Tommy Robinson's video with the following warning label: "The following content has been identified by the YouTube community as inappropriate or offensive to some audiences".
He has been in charged with various crimes, for example assault in 2011 [47][48][49] and using another person's passport for traveling to USA in 2012.[50]
